About the Teacher

My career in education began when I was the librarian at Elberta Middle School. During that time, I attended night school and received my teaching degree from the University of South Alabama in 1990. I was offered a first grade teaching position at Elberta Middle that same year. I have been teaching first grade ever since. I received my Master's degree from the University of Alabama in 2004.

I am married to Jody Johnson. We have one daughter, Jessica, who is married to Will Holley. They live in Auburn and work for the university. Jody and I are looking forward to having grandchildren one day, but in the meantime, we have two dogs, Natalie and Skeeter. They keep us very busy!
